Panelo (CleverBoard) Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 28, 2026
Panelo (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how your information is handled when you use the Panelo application, browser extension, or desktop app.
Panelo is built with a local-first approach. Your dashboard layouts, custom JavaScript widgets, and preferences are stored locally on your device rather than hosted on our external servers.
1. Information Collected and Processed
A. Information Stored Locally
- Preferences & Widgets: Dashboard configurations, custom JavaScript code, widget positions, and saved background settings are stored entirely on your local device (using local storage mechanisms like
SharedPreferencesor local databases). We do not collect, read, or sync your custom code or widget contents to our servers.
B. Usage & Telemetry Data (Analytics)
We use privacy-conscious analytics tools to understand general app usage patterns, improve features, and optimize performance:
- Aptabase: Anonymized telemetry data (such as feature interaction counts and aggregate session metrics). Aptabase is a privacy-first analytics platform that does not collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or track users across applications.
- Firebase Analytics: Standard, aggregated event telemetry (such as session counts, screen views, and general device information like OS version and language) to help us understand how users interact with the app.
C. Crash & Performance Data
To diagnose software bugs, prevent crashes, and ensure system stability, we collect technical diagnostics:
- Firebase Crashlytics: When the application encounters an error or crashes, detailed diagnostic technical reports are sent automatically. These reports contain device state information, OS version, device hardware model, stack traces, and crash timestamps. Crash logs do not contain your personal personal identifiable data or local widget scripts.
D. Third-Party Media & Network Services
- Unsplash API: When browsing, searching, or fetching background wallpapers, Panelo communicates directly with Unsplash’s public API endpoints. When an image request is sent, Unsplash receives standard web request metadata (including your IP address and standard HTTP request headers) in accordance with Unsplash’s Privacy Policy.
2. How We Use Information
We use the collected diagnostic and telemetry data exclusively to:
- Identify and fix software crashes, bugs, and performance bottlenecks.
- Measure feature popularity to guide future development and updates.
- Deliver wallpapers and media assets requested directly by the user.
- Maintain application functionality across different operating systems and browser versions.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
Panelo integrates with third-party service providers to deliver analytics, performance diagnostics, and image delivery. Each provider handles data according to their respective privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics): Google Privacy & Terms
- Aptabase: Aptabase Privacy Policy
- Unsplash: Unsplash Privacy Policy
4. Data Retention and Security
- Local Storage: Any personal preferences or custom scripts created inside Panelo remain on your local filesystem or browser storage. You can completely erase this data at any time by clearing your browser storage, resetting application data, or uninstalling Panelo.
- Telemetry & Diagnostics: Anonymized event and crash telemetry stored with our service providers is retained in accordance with standard data retention schedules (typically 90 to 180 days) before automatic deletion.
5. Children’s Privacy
Panelo does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can promptly remove such data.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Data Erasure: Because your core application data is stored locally, uninstalling the app or clearing local browser extension storage instantly removes all local settings, keys, and custom scripts.
- Network Requests: You can prevent background image network calls to Unsplash simply by using a solid color background or a locally hosted image instead of browsing the Unsplash gallery.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in software functionality, third-party services, or legal obligations. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated “Effective Date.”
